UCF is one of the biggest universities in the U.S., and it accepts less than 50% of applicants.

To set yourself apart from the rest of the applicants, you’ll need to write a stellar UCM application essay. Don’t worry, though, because these essays are optional! These essays are an extra opportunity to show why you’d be a great addition to our student body. We’ve got everything you need to know about writing a UCM application essay below.

All roads lead to writing the UCF application essay, because it is a very important part of your college experience. You need to get this done before you start applying to colleges. You should also make sure that you do well on the SATs or ACTs, because these tests are used by most schools as a measure of how well you did in high school.

What Should You Know About the UCF Application Essay?

Students who want to apply to UCF must submit an application using the Common Application. There are four different prompts for the supplemental essays. Each prompt asks about something unique about yourself. You can choose any of the prompts, or write your own.

The Common Application asks you to write about your experience and what you want to accomplish in college. You should also include information about extracurricular activities and any other experiences or skills you think might help you succeed in college.

What Are The UCF Application Essay Prompts?

UCF requires you to write two essays. You should use these as opportunities to flesh out your application. UCF accepts your answers in one combined essay or two separate statements.

You must write an essay answering each prompt. Your response should be no longer than 500 words or 7k characters. You may use any form of writing including but not limited to poetry, fiction, nonfiction, etc.

UCF Essay Prompt : The Obstacle Prompt Example

I had a problem with my parents when I was younger. My dad died when I was ten years old. He left me and my mom to fend for ourselves. We lived off of welfare until we got back on our feet. I didn’t get into college because I needed to stay home and take care of my mom. She was sick and couldn’t work. I also had to help support my younger brother.

Circumstances like these can be out of my control but I’m still responsible for my grades. I need to make sure that I get all A’s and B’s and C’s so that I can graduate with honors. I should tell UCF about the hardships I’ve faced in order to explain why my grades dropped. I should also mention how I overcame those obstacles by working hard and studying more.

Common App Personal Essay Example

I am a very hard worker who always does my homework. I love reading and writing. My favorite subject is English because it helps me express myself better. I also enjoy math because it makes sense. I hope that this essay shows how much I care about school and how dedicated I am to learning.

I’ve been trying to get into college since I was five years old. My parents always told me that I’d never make it because I’m too dumb. I tried to prove them wrong by getting straight A’s, but I failed every single test. I had to drop out of school. That was when I decided to become an actor. Does UCF Admissions Require Recommendation Essays Or Interviews?

The application for admissions provides space for a listing of extra and co-curricular activities; this portion of application must be completed in lieu of submitted supplemental materials. Essay is an optional component of application for admission. If elected to submit an essay, select a topic within the form and submit it within the completed application.

UCF doesn’t interview applicants.

My leadership roles include being president of the National Honor Society, vice-president of the Spanish Club, treasurer of the Student Council, and secretary of the French Club. You should write about yourself and what you want to do after college. You should include information about your academic background, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, etc.

Burnett Honors College

Students applying to the Burnett Honors College should show clear evidence of academic talent, motivation, intellectual curiosity and creativity.

Students who are admitted to the Burnett Honors program must be selected by the admissions committee based on their academic performance and extracurricular activities.

 Students who are accepted into the Burnett Honors program are automatically invited to apply to the University Honors Program. Students who are admitted to UCF but do not apply to the University Honours program are not guaranteed acceptance.

Timeline

Burnett Honors College has an admission rollover. Students who applied earlier than others may get admitted before the deadline. Students should submit their applications as soon as possible.

Process

To be considered, an applicant should be a freshman (FTIC) student for the summer/fall semester. Students who earn an associate degree as part of a Dual Enrollment Program and are admitted to UCSF as a first-time in college (FTIC), can only apply to the university honors program as freshmen (FTI).

Applicants must submit a University honors application and official high school transcripts directly to the Burnett Honours college. In addition, official ACT or SAT test scores should be submitted along with other information which demonstrates your talents, skills, and/or interests.

Students may submit their BHC university honors applications before they are accepted into UCF, however our staff cannot review these applications until acceptance to UCF is granted.
